REPORTING RIDERS CARRYING OUT TRICKS ON MOTORBIKES & OTHER TRAFFIC-RELATED INCIDENTS

Friday 9 August 2024

The Wingham Parish Council clerk has recently received reports about speeding motorbikes and riders carrying out tricks on the main High Street.

The clerk keeps a record of any reported traffic incidents and near misses on the A257 especially those occurring through Wingham village and those on the straight Roman Road section towards Shatterling. This is because, together with the A257 Traffic Group, the Parish Council are building the case for safety improvements on the A257, especially past the Wildlife Park, Malibu Grains and Wingham Country Market and in the hamlet of Shatterling. Please continue to log any traffic-related incidents you witness of reckless overtaking, crash incidents, near misses, motorcyclists carrying out tricks, etc, to the clerk providing as much information as possible using the relevant Traffic Incident Record form from this website on our forms page: https://wingham-pc.gov.uk/forms/ and send this via the website contact form or via separate email to the clerk on clerk@wingham-pc.gov.uk or report by phone 01227 722189.

In relation to speding motorcycles, our Neighbourhood Beat Officer PC Bowler has said that sometimes individual perception of speed can differ and often the noise and acceleration of the motorcycles can be interpreted as excess speed.

In relation to reckless riding, such as wheelies, please try to obtain a vehicle index or at the very least a description and make a report at the time it is happening via 101 or via the Kent Police Website Live Chat function (see snip below)
