WHO DO YOU THINK SHOULD RECEIVE A COMMUNITY AWARD IN 2022?
There are so many individuals and groups of people working hard to keep Wingham the fabulous community that we all enjoy and benefit from and so the Parish Council are once again running two Community Award Schemes for 2022: THE JACK JOLLY AWARD & the KALC COMMUNITY AWARD.
For further information on how to nominate an individual, partners, a team or group, please visit the Parish Council website ‘forms’ page https://wingham-pc.gov.uk/forms/.
Nominations including the name of the person(s) or team and the reason for the nomination can be sent to the Parish Council Clerk by Friday 7 January 2022.
ABOUT THE AWARDS:
The Jack Jolly Award was created by the Parish Council and first presented in 2015 to honour the memory of Jack Jolly who was a Parish Councillor in Wingham for 18 years until October 2013, having previously served on Goodnestone Parish Council for 16 years. As well as Chairing the Planning Committee, Jack carried out weekly checks of the children's play area and regular checks of the street furniture and did much to support the community as a whole.
The KALC Community Award Scheme was started by the Kent Association of Local Councils (KALC) and first presented in 2014 and has continued each year since. It was established to acknowledge and give recognition to those that have made a significant contribution to their local community and the certificate is signed by the High Sheriff of Kent, Chairman of Kent County Council and the KALC Chairman. KALC is a not-for-profit membership organisation serving Parish, Town and Community Councils and Parish Meetings in Kent and Medway. They help to ensure that Councillors and Clerks are better informed and provided with the tools and knowledge to help undertake our roles as efficiently and effectively as we can.
PRESENTATION OF AWARDS:
The Awards will be presented to the successful recipients at the Annual Parish Assembly on Wednesday 20 April 2022 at the Village Hall.
