Remembrance Sunday in Wingham
Remembrance Sunday will be a little different in Wingham this year as there will be no parade and no church service due to the latest Government lockdown measures.
However, there will be a very short service conducted by the Venerable Jo Kelley-Moore, Archdeacon of Canterbury, at the Burial Ground war memorial, attended by a few village representatives only:-
• Parish Council representatives
• Fire Service Representatives
• Other members of the community
• Church representatives
In principle, any person is entitled to attend an act of worship in a church. However the burial ground will be closed to visitors from 10.30 to 11.30.
Residents and the general public should therefore not attend please
The service will be live-streamed on You Tube using a channel set up for the Church, details to follow
The Order of Service will be provided by Archdeacon Jo and will be posted on this website. It will be based on the service booklet used each year.
The service will include
• Laying of Wreaths before or during the service
• 2 minutes’ silence
• Last Post and Reveille
• Reading the Roll of Honour
Standards will not be present at the service. There will be no hymn singing or live music.
All participants (other than those from the same family or support bubble) will maintain 2 metres’ distance at all times.
