Two Community Awards were presented at the Parish Assembly: The Jack Jolly Award was presented to Bettina Braun and the KALC Community Award was presented to Gareth Winters; both presentations made by the Parish Council Chairman, Cllr Sharon Addis.

Three nominations were received this year: Bettina Braun, Tracy Leatham and Gareth Winters.

JACK JOLLY AWARD (Glass Trophy kept for one year and Certificate): The nomination for Bettina noted that she has put her heart and soul into supporting so many village groups, always with enthusiasm and a smile. She joined both the village preschool committee and the primary school PTFA giving up much of her time to organise events and raise much needed funds. She is also secretary for the Tennis Club and supports St Mary’s Church by editing the Parish Magazine and was previously the Parochial Church Council secretary.

KALC COMMUNITY AWARD (Certificate signed by the Chairman of Kent County Council and the KALC Chairman): Gareth was nominated for his work as editor of the Wingham Community News, photographing Wingham events and a stalwart of WASUP – Wingham Against Single Use Plastic. He plays a key role in keeping residents updated on village events.

RECREATION GROUND COMMITTEE

There remain vacancies on the Committee for Wingham Village Organisations. If you would be interested in helping the committee to raise funds for improvements to the pavilion and to keep the Recreation Ground the fantastic resource that it is, please contact the Parish Council Clerk. Thank you
