CONGRATULATIONS TO WINGHAM PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS!

Thursday 11 June 2026

Wingham Primary School entrants for the 2026 'Welcome to Wingham' poster competition with Cllr Enid Brice

A new 'Welcome to Wingham' poster is now on display on the commemorative planter at the corner of Wingham High Street and St Mary's Meadow following this year's competition supported by Wingham Parish Council, Cllr Enid Brice and The Dog at Wingham who kindly donated the book token prizes for the three winners.

This is the 12th year of the competition where Wingham Parish Council asks children at Wingham Primary School to produce a vibrant, landscape, poster featuring the words 'Welcome to Wingham' with a picture representing Wingham in some way. When the competition started in 2014 there was no Wingham Village Sign and the parish council thought it would be a lovely idea to have a sign on the Queen's Diamond Jubilee 2012 commemorative planter to welcome visitors to the village.

Wingham Parish Council arranges for the winning design to be enlarged and placed inside a cabinet on the commemorative planter. Some of the previous winning entries can be seen along the pedestrian entrance into the grounds of the Primary School.

The winners of this year's competition were Arthur (1st), Maisie (2nd) and Evie (3rd) and each received a book token donated by The Dog at Wingham plus a medal and some sweets donated by Cllr Brice during assembly on Monday 8 June. All children who entered also received a medal and some sweets. Thank you to everyone who took part.
