Dover Library Hosts Free Writing-for-Children Workshop with Acclaimed Author Patrice Lawrence

Dover Library is thrilled to announce that it has been selected through the All Stories national competition to host a fully funded writing workshop aimed at aspiring writers. This exciting workshop will take place on Monday 27 January 2025 at 10.30am to 12:30pm.

The workshop, led by acclaimed local author Patrice Lawrence, is designed to introduce participants to the basics of writing for children and inspire them to develop their creativity. It is open to all aspiring writers with no prior experience in writing or publishing is required.

This workshop is one of 16 being held across the UK, made possible by funding from Arts Council England, Inclusive Books for Children, and the Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society. In addition to the workshop, All Stories will establish a writing group at Dover Library to continue supporting local writers. Participants will also receive a ‘writer resources’ pack, which will be available to anyone visiting the library after the workshop.

About Patrice Lawrence: Patrice Lawrence is a Sussex-born author renowned for her work with children and young people. She has written for all age groups, from picture books to novels for teenagers and young adults. Her accolades include the YA Prize, the Waterstones Prize for Older Children's Fiction, the Jhalak Prize for Children and Young People, and the Little Rebels Children's Award. Patrice has been awarded an MBE for Literature and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. She is currently the Book Trust Writer in Residence, focusing on children facing challenging circumstances.
