M20 Moveable Barrier: overnight closure notification – correction

Our County Association (KALC) has sent Wingham Parish Council information from National Highways on this upcoming overnight road closure as part of the M20 Moveable Barrier Scheme:-

Coastbound carriageway closure

To protect the travelling public and our workforce while we carry out drainage installation at certain points within the central reservation, we’ll be extending the temporary safety barrier along sections of the outside lane on the coastbound carriageway. This work will be noisier than our usual work.

To carry out this work safely, the M20 coastbound between junctions 7 and 9 will be closed:

  • From 8:00pm on Sunday 23 October until 6:00am on  Monday 24 October 2022

Diversion route: traffic will be diverted off the M20 at junction 6 to connect with the A229, where drivers will be directed to use the A229 northbound to the M2 junction 3 where they’ll head eastbound along the M2 to junction 7. Traffic will then travel eastbound along the A2 to Dover Docks. Once in Dover, traffic will be directed to the London-bound A20 and on to the M20, where the diversion will end at M20 junction 10.

Other overnight closures

I’d also like to take this opportunity to let you know of some other upcoming overnight closures to carry out repair work to Grove Bridge.

To carry out this repair work safely, the M20 London-bound between junctions 11 and 10a will be closed:

  • From 9:00pm to 5:00am each night from Monday 24 October to Friday 28 October 2022. At these times, the outside lane of the coastbound carriageway will also be closed.

Diversion route: when the M20 is closed for this repair work, traffic will be diverted along the A20, A261, A259 and A2070. For more information on this project, you can contact info@nationalhighways.co.uk.

As ever, our dates are subject to change in the case of adverse weather or other unplanned events. Wherever possible we’ll tell you in advance if we need to close the road overnight.  There may, however, be occasions due to unforeseen circumstances, for example safety critical emergency work, where we may be unable to publicise closures in advance. Similarly, our dates are subject to change in the case of adverse weather or other unplanned events.
