OVERNIGHT CLOSURES - Tuesday 19th September - Saturday 23 September 2023
Via our County Association, National Highways have sent the following information which may be of interest to Wingham residents using the M20 this week and into the weekend:-
I am writing to let you know of some upcoming overnight closures that are needed to carry out some traffic management changes, and to finish our lane reconfiguration work, which involves removing the existing white lining and laying down the new lines in the correct position.
To carry out this work safely, the following overnight closures will be required.
London-bound overnight closures
The M20 London-bound between junctions 9 and 8 will be closed overnight from:
Diversion route: A clearly signed diversion route will be in place taking traffic along the coastbound M20, the coastbound A20 towards Dover, then along the A2, London-bound M2 and crossing back to the M20 at J7 via the A249.
Coastbound overnight closures
The M20 coastbound between junctions 7 and 9 will be closed overnight from:
Diversion route: A clearly signed diversion route will be in place taking traffic coastbound along the A249, M2, A2, A20, then back onto the M20.
Coastbound slip road closures
To enable us carry out duct work to get CCTV services from one side of the carriageway to the other, some coastbound slip road closures are also required.
The coastbound M20 junction 9 exit slip road will be closed from:
Diversion route: Traffic will be directed to continue to junction 10A where they can turnaround and exit the M20 at junction 9 on the London-bound side.
The coastbound M20 junction 9 entry slip road will be closed from:
Diversion route: A clearly signed diversion route will be in place taking traffic coastbound along the A20, A28, A2070, A20 then back onto the M20.
