Oily substance in Wingham - Wednesday 6 January 2020

Following reports of an oily substance on the roads, footways and in Wingham River, the Parish Council reported the issue to KCC Highways and the Environment Agency.

KCC Highways have now spread an absorbent dust onto the four main bends from Red Lion Corner through to the start of the 40mph buffer zone towards Bramling.

KCC Highways also plan to erect several 'slippery road' signs warning drivers of the danger.

The Parish Council have also spoken with an Environment Agency officer and supplied him with photos and video evidence.

The source or cause of the spill is not yet known, but believed to have happened this morning.
