This year’s Parish Assembly entitled, ‘A Greener, safer village’, due to have taken place on Wednesday 22 April 2020, was postponed due to Coronavirus.
COMMUNITY AWARDS
We were looking forward to presenting Lynne & Mike Conolly with the Parish Council’s Jack Jolly Award for their contribution to the RBL Poppy Appeal, organising poppy sellers and the coffee morning; for their support of St Mary’s Church through the Friends organising various events and fund raising; and for Lynne’s coordination of the WCN delivery.
We were also hoping to welcome back Karl Randall & Yolanda Helsloot to the village in order to present them with the KALC Community Award, presented for their community spirit and commitment to the village whilst running Wingham Post Office 2006-2019, providing a vital focal point and supporting so many village events and organisations.
The Parish Council hope to run a special presentation event later this year so that both of the community awards can be presented in person to these very deserving recipients.
UPDATE: The special Awards presentation went ahead at The Anchor Inn on Tuesday 18 August - see our article on the event HERE
PRESENTATIONS
We were all set to hear from Dover District Council’s Community Services team and our PCSO who were to update us on how they are working to help make our District safer, tell us about their services, including the new CCTV hub and let us know how to contact them and make the most of their services. Hopefully we can invite them back another time.
We also wanted to hear your views on a 20mph limit proposal for Wingham High Street, your thoughts on Health & Wellbeing and the survey due to be distributed soon, plus an update on what the community group WASUP have been up to this last year.
REPORTS
Though none of the above are currently possible, we do want to give you the opportunity to read the various reports usually circulated at the meeting and these are posted below, as are the draft minutes of the 2019 APA.
Please do take the time to read these reports as they really do give an insight into the amount of fantastic work being done each year by our village organisations & volunteers, your local Parish Council and by your District and County Councillors.
